How do I create a New Notebook in GoodNotes?

The free version of GoodNotes comes with free note pages and templates. But if you have seen them, they are kind of boring.

If you want fancy templates and pages you can either create them using a template creator like Canva or you can purchase them from Etsy or Shopify.

You may even come across FREE Goodnotes templates but have no idea how to import them into your Ipad.

Not to worry. Today I’m going to show you how to import a PDF into Goodnotes plus, I’ll give you a FREE Meal Planner Journal for your next meal planning journey.

Steps to Create a New Notebook from standard templates:

  1. Press the + from the main Documents section.
  2. Select Notebook from the drop down.
  3. New Notebook screen will come up, select a cover and a page type from the samples below. (These will become your defaults)
  4. Name your notebook and press Create.
  5. Your new notebook will automatically open up.
  6. Remember to select Inking instead of navigation to write on your notebook.

How to Import a PDF into GoodNotes

Importing a PDF Downloaded from Your Windows Computer:

Here are step by step instructions on how to import a PDF template into GoodNotes that you have saved to a folder from your computer:

  1. Download the template and save it to your files.
  2. Save it on your apple device by either email it to yourself, saving it to Google docs, Onedrive or any other type of accessible cloud storage
  3. Open Goodnotes and in the Documents tab, press “+” to create a new planner.
  4. Select import.
  5. Press the +import
  6. Go to your files and the location where you saved your downloaded planner template and select it
  7. Press open, then press done.
  8. Go back to your Documents tab and open the planner you just imported. Click and open the planner. It’s ready to use.

Importing a PDF Downloaded from your Device:

If you have searched Google on your Apple device and downloaded from a website, you can follow these steps to import the template into your GoodNotes app:

  1. Download and open the template from your device
  2. Press the share icon in the top left corner [↑]
  3. Share to GoodNotes
  4. Goodnotes will open up automatically, and a message will come up to confirm save location
  5. Once saved the PDF will load automatically

Note:

You’ll need to toggle off of the navigation menu into pen and ink in order to write on your planner.

Conclusion: there are plenty of free Goodnotes templates if you search Google. Download a suitable template and then import it directly into your Goodnotes app.
